Khokon opened campaign: DSCC to free city from dusts

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched an anti-dust campaign with the advent of dry season.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the campaign on Thursday in front of the Nagar Bhaban.
The DSCC officials said, the city corporation will clean 50 kilometers
of streets in the city spraying water for two times a day.
They said that nine water containers carrier vehicles will wash the streets in DSCC areas from 6 am to 8 am and from 1 pm to 3 pm everyday.
“The DSCC took various initiatives to keep the city habitable for citizens. We know there is no street right now free from dust. It causes asthma and lung allergy and other health problems,” the Mayor said.
“We want to make the city dust and pollution free,” he said.
DSCC officials said that their water spraying programme would continue till May.
The DSCC areas has been divided into five zones.
Zone-1 will cover Banglamotors to Bangabhaban, including Shikkha Bhaban, Zero Point and Gulistan.
Zone-2 will cover Madhumita Cinema Hall to Arambagh Notre Dame College, Ideal School, Shajahanpur, Khilgaon Flyover, Fakirerpool, Dainik Bangla crossing and Shapla Chattar.
Zone-3 will cover Nilkhet to Begum Badrunnesa Govt Women College, Azimpur and Palashi crossing while Zone-4 will cover Gulistan to Sadarghat, North-South Road, English Road and Babu Bazar Bridge.
The Zone-5 will cover Bangabhaban to Postagola, Ittefaq square, RAB-3 office, Maniknagar, Sayedabad Bridge, Shaheed Faruq Sarak, Zurain level crossing, Dayaganj and Dholaikhal.
