Dhaka South City Corporation has taken an initiative for preparing a regulation on using mayor’s optional fund.
“Years after years the fund has been using without any regulation. Though it is under mayor’s jurisdictions, but I think a regulation may be needed for using the fund effectively,” DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said it in the corporation’s board meeting in the Nogor Bhabon on Tuesday.
He has distributed copies of a draft regulation among the councilors on management of the fund.
The mayor asked councilors to submit recommendations on the matter.
As per the agendas of the meeting a nine-member standing committee on Community center and social welfare has been formed.
Sarwar Hossain Alo, councilor of Ward-41 has been made President of the standing committee.
DSCC mayor said there are many community centers have been given lease. Most of those tenure of leasing has been ended and we have not renewed the tenting.
We have asked the lease takers to handover all of those centers to us.
There are many wards where are no community centers yet.
“We have submitted proposals to ministry to construct community centers in those wards. We will community centers in all of our 75 wards soon,” said DSCC mayor.
He said the community centers were constructed to facilitate the peoples’ social functions and the goals will be fulfilled.
Another committee has been forged to ensure health services for the city dwellers.
Earlier, in the previous board meeting a nine member committee on sport and culture has been formed.
The DSCC mayor expressed hope that the members of the committee are working honestly to full fill the demands of the body.
