Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon on Tuesday warned the businessmen against keeping inflammable chemicals illegally in shops and stores.
The mayor said, “We have agreed that there are 29 chemicals which are seriously inflammable, after discussing with businessmen and experts. If any one of those 29 hazardous chemicals is found in any shop or store, that will be sealed,” Mayor Sayeed Khokon said it at a inaugural ceremony of trade license renewal programme on the Mitford Road in the capital.
Some of the risky chemicals are Ethyl Alcohol, 2-Ethyl Alcohol, ISO Propyl Alcohol, M.E.K, M I. B. K, Thinair B, and Dye Acetone Alcohol etc.
The DSCC mayor said, “We agreed that every businessman will cooperate with the committee which will conduct mobile court. Those shops which will be found free from those hazardous chemicals will be rewarded with renewal trade license.”
He asked the businessmen to keep little amount of chemicals in shops as samples.
“Stored chemicals in store far from the Mitford and the residential areas will be delivered from those stores,” mayor said.
