Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon censured the Councillors after they lost their temperament with a journalist during a media briefing on the City Corporation budget.
On Sunday, DSCC announced a budget of Tk 3631.40 crore for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
Following the announcement of the budget some councillors lashed out on an online news portal’s journalist

Following the incident, DSCC Ward-4 Councillor Golam Hossain apologised for their behaviour.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sayed Khokon in his budget speech said, 95 percent of the roads in DSCC area are suitable for traffic.
In the meantime, Kamrun Nahar, a reporter for the Financial Express, said in her question that you (Khokon) claimed that 95 percent of the roads in your area are suitable for traffic. But the reality is just the opposite.
The mayor stopped the journalist and said, “If you can prove, I will reward whatever you want.”
Then the reporter said, “I do not need a reward. I live in Kathalbagan-Kalabagan area. The road conditions are such that the elderly and pregnant women have difficulty in moving with the rickshaw.”
When the mayor denied the allegations, Kamrun Nahar repeat, “Your councillor has told the media that he has not received any allotment for development in the area.” There is a councillor in that area. Ask him now.”
The councillor of the area (DSCC-1) Alauddin Ahmed Dhalli supported the reporter’s statement.
Excited by the councillor’s statement, Saeed Khokon asked the Executive Engineer of the area (Region-1) for the reason. At the same time, he demanded explanation from Executive Engineer Shafiullah Siddiqui. He also directed Additional Chief Engineer Asaduzzaman to dismiss the engineer if it was not satisfactory.
