DSCC eviction drive costs trader’s life

A juice trader was allegedly died while fleeing to dodge the punishment of the eviction drive team of Dhaka South City Corporation(DCC) near the Bangabandhu Stadium in the city’s Paltan area on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Md Shah Jamal, 65, hailing from Mymensingh district, Police said. Md Mahmudul Haq, Officer-in-Charge (OC)of Paltan Model Police Station, said, “Jamal tried to flee as hurry up manner being informed the eviction drive and he laid down on the ground in an unconscious condition near the Gate No. 3 of the stadium around 1:30pm. Locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical Collage and Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead around 2:15pm.”
They will clear about the dead after getting the post mortem report, the OC said.
DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Bacchu Mia said that the doctors declared Jamal dead soon after he was taken to the hospital.
The body was kept at DMCH mortuary for an autopsy, the police official said.
A witness said that Jamal ran away with his van-run temporary juice shop and fall down on the ground centering fear of fine and punishment of the DSCC eviction team.
