DSCC announces Taka 3183.65-crore budget

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Thursday announced a budget of Taka 3,183.65 crore for the fiscal 2016-17.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon announced the budget at Mayor Hanif conference room in the Nagar Bhaban.
In the budget, DSCC has fixed a target of revenue earning to the tune of Taka 1,391.27 crore from own sources. The volume of budget in the last fiscal, 2015-16, was Taka 2,085.36 crore and the revised budget was of Taka 1,052.49 crore.
Mayor Sayeed Khokan said one of the main sources of revenue earning in fiscal 2016-17 is ‘bazar salami.’ The earning from this sector has been estimated at Taka 650 crore, while Taka 30 crore from market leasing, Taka 65 crore from trade license renewal, Taka 3.60 crore from rickshaw license fees and property handover fee Taka 65 crore.
Besides, the mayor hoped that Taka 28 crore will be earned as road digging fee and Taka 5.60 crore will be earned from temporary animal markets.
He said there are possibilities of getting Taka 18 crore as government grant, Taka 200 crore as special government grant and Taka 1,485.32 crore as local and foreign project assistances.
The mayor said the sectors of expenditure in fiscal 2016-17 include salaries and remuneration (Taka 240 crore), road and traffic structures maintenance and development (Taka 943.66 crore), physical infrastructure construction/ development (Taka 560.69 crore) and mosquito control activities (Taka 11.50 crore).
