Even after almost more than a year after the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) polls, the District Football Associations (DFAs) are yet to receive their promised financial assistance as promised by the elected BFF members.
Just prior to Election BFF panel led by Kazi Salahuddin in their election agenda published that if they were elected they will provide funds to run the district football leagues. But sadly the revamp of district football still remain in wilderness as Kazi Salahuddin led committee continue to ignored to deliver the promised financial packages to DFA.
Most of the DFAs which was formed in 2008 leaving DSA has not staged any leagues since their formation, while only a handful of 15-18 DFA could fulfill their job by holding leagues regularly, that too at their own expense.
Sadly because of those leagues, Dhaka football continued to get advantages as players from those leagues which are keeping on supply the players for Dhaka Clubs.
Habiganj and Satkhira, the two districts who hold the league regularly and they are now looking for the promised assistance to DFA, so that they can start their local league.
“We will start the league as soon as the BFF instructs us,” said Satkhira DFA president Sirajul Islam Khan to the reporters yesterday and also informed that they have learnt that Saif PowerTec will sponsor the district league.”
“If DFAs are given a nominal portion of the financial help given to Dhaka clubs, then the scenario of the country’s football will change drastically. It is not possible to make changes while sitting in air-conditioned rooms. You have to go from district to district to find out the real problems,” added newly elected Rangpur DFA president Manzur Rahmed Azad.
One hopes BFF boss will keenly look into this matter and make sure the promised funds are disbursed quickly to keep the district football alive which is the ultimate pipeline of players for future national team.
