DSA case against Cartoonist Kishore, entrepreneur Zulkarnain, hearing not held

Recording the depositions of the witnesses in the case filed against Cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore, entrepreneur Zulkarnain Saer Khan alias Simi and five others on the charges of spreading remours and carrying out ant-government activities, could not be held on Thursday.
Earlier, on February 27, the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal framed charges against the accused and fixed April 7 to record the depositions of the witnesses.
Thursday, April 7, was scheduled for hearing, but the defense told the court that on the day they challenged the order that framed charges against the accused in the High Court Division. Besides, they sought time to the court on Thursday.
Other accused in the case are Swedish-Bangladeshi journalist Tasneem Khalil, former MD of BLE Securities Minhaj Mannan Emon, Didarul Islam Bhuiyan of ‘Rastrachinta’, Ashik Md Imran and Wahidun Nabi.
Of the accused Samiul Islam Khan, Netra News Editor Tasneem Khalil, Blogger Ashik Mohammad Imran and Md Wahidun Nabi have been on the run since the beginning of the case.  
The name of writer Mustak Ahmed, the main accused in the case, was dropped from the case after his death. On the other hand as allegations against US expatriate journalist Shahed Alam, German based blogger Asif Mohiuddin and Facebook ID Philip Sumakher were not proved, they were exempted from the case.
On May 6, last year, RAB filed the case against 11 persons with Ramna Model Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
In February, last year, police submitted a chargesheet against three of the accuse, dropping the names of eight others.
Police on June 14, last year, submitted a supplementary chargesheet against seven persons, including Kishore in the case.
Later, a Dhaka court ordered the DMP CTTC unit to further investigate about all the accused of the case.
