Hasina Begum (50), a housewife of village Kartikdia within Baraipara Union under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila in the district met her tragic end when her drunkard step son Faruq Shaikh (20) chopped her fatally on Sunday afternoon with a sharp knife.
After the incident the local people caught the killer along with the knife used for killing her mother. He was handed him over to the police after mass beating.
Deceased Hasina Begum was the wife of one late Moksud Shaikh of the village. It is learnt from Kazal and Paira, 2 daughters of late Hasina Begum that their step brother Faruq was a professional drunkard for long. All other members of their family were badly disturbed by him. In order to get rid of the harassment from the hands of Faruq they including their mother lived in a separate residence. In spite of that Faruk used to torture them very often. On the day in the after noon Faruq suddenly appeared their residence, fell on Hsina Begum and chopped her repeatedly with a sharp knife. As a result, she sustained fatal injuries on her head. She was rushed to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Police already visited the place of occurrence. The dead body was sent the same to the morgue for autopsy. In this connection a case was lodged with Bagerhat Model PS.
