The Drug Control Department, Pabna ‘B’ (Ishwardi) Circle has seized drugs worth Tk 11 crore in the last one year in Ishwardi. During this time 275 arrests have been made under the Narcotics Act. This information was given by the inspector of ‘B’ region of the Narcotics Control Department Chanowar Hossain.
He said despite the problems, the people in his office are working relentlessly at the risk of their lives in accordance with the government’s zero tolerance policy. In the last 2021, 712 anti-drug campaigns were conducted in Ishwardi. In these raids, 275 people were arrested in drug cases as against 260 cases. Tk 3.2750 lakh in cash and 3 motorcycles were recovered from the detainees and deposited in the government treasury. At that time drugs worth around Tk 11 crore were recovered.
He further said that although the officers and employees of the Narcotics Control Department work for the control of drugs at the risk of their lives, they do not have any risk allowance. He hoped for the kindness of the upper echelons of the government in this regard.
