Drug use has spread in Sylhet in a terrible way. Drug use in homes and on the streets. Students and youths are addicted to drugs as schools and colleges are closed during the Corona period and in many cases there is no employment. On the other hand, traders and carriers are being caught with drugs every day. One kind of Women are also involved in drug use and business.
According to a statistic, there are more than 3,000 drug dealers in Sylhet. Although the RAB-police operation to arrest drug addicts and drug dealers has continued, public drug use is also seen in some sensitive areas. There is talk that there is darkness under the hurricane lamp. According to this proverb, Sylhet police line area is now a sanctuary for drug addicts.
