‘Drug trader’ killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Satghoria Para in Teknaf upazila early Monday. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 23, son of Shah Alam, a resident of Moheshkhaliapata in Howaikang union. Pradip Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, said being tipped off that a group of drug traders would gather in the area a team of police conducted a drive around 4 am. Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gun battle. After the gunfight, police rescued Rahman who sustained bullet injuries and took him to Teknafupazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
Police also recovered 3,000 Yaba tablets, one LG, three rounds cartridge and six round bullet shells from the spot.
