A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups at Dakhshin Lengurbil adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Farid Alam, 30, son of Prokash Md Alam, a resident of the area.
On information about a gunfight between two groups of Yaba traders, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4 am, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders fled the scene.
Later, the police team recovered the body, two locally-made arms and 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from the spot, the OC added.
