‘Drug trader’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A suspected Rohingya drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Palongkhali in Ukhiya upazila early Thursday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive at Rahmetorbill border area around 4 am, said Lieutenant Colonel Ali Haider Azad Ahmed, Commanding officer of BGB-34, Cox’s Bazar.
Sensing presence of the border guards, the criminals opened fire on BGB men, forcing them to fire
back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.
Later the BGB men recovered the body of the drug trader from the spot.
30,000 Yaba pills, one firearm and two bullets were recovered from the spot.
