A trial tribunal has convicted a person,sentencing him to life imprisonment on charge of his involvement in drug trading in the district.
The tribunal also fined the convict identified as Naimul Haque, 40, son of late Shamsuddin Beg of Sultanganj village under Godagari Upazila, Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more behind the bar.
Rajshahi Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Anup Kumar found the accused guilty of the charge and pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict in the court on Sunday.
Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Entazul Haque Babu told the journalists that Naimul was arrested with heroin on November 18, 2015. Subsequently, a case was lodged against him with Godagari Police Station in this connection.
