A Chittagong court on Monday sentenced a drug trader to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for life for trading with contraband Phensidyl.The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shah-e-Nur also fined Mohammad Foysal Karim, 40, son of late Ahammad Hossain TK. 10 thousand. He hails from city’s Sadarghat area.
Court sources said, Narcotics Control Department (NCD), Chittagong Metro, arrested Foysal from city’s Sadarghat with 350 bottles of Phensidyl around 10-30pm on June 13 in 2009.
Later, NCD filed a case with Double Mooring thana against him the following day. Police submitted charge-sheet on July 13 the same year.
The court yesterday examined a total of five prosecution witnesses and passed the verdict, court sources said.
