Chittagong District Police in a raid arrested a drug smuggler with 1,000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Lohagara upazila of the district recently.
The arrestee was identified as Munna Hoque, 36, hailing from Koiyabill village of Chakaria upazia under Cox’s Bazar.
A team of Lohagara police on secret information raided a passenger bus of Soudia Transport Service in front of Jangalia Forest office in Lohagara upazila early Monday and arrested Munna with the Yaba tablets, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Solaiman of Lohagara thana.
Munna supplies Yaba tabets to floating drug traders in different areas after collecting those from Cox’s Bazar, the SI said adding that a case was filed in this connection.
5 held with huge ammos : Police in separate drives arrested six persons along with a large quantity of ammunition from Lohagara and Sitakundo upazila here on Monday morning.
M Solaiman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Lahagara Police Station, said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in a micro bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 1:30am and arrested one Emran Hossain, 26 along with ammunition.
In another drive, Sitakunda police in a drive arrested five persons along with four locally made cocktails, one LG, three Cartages, iron rod, one knife, iron handle and a sharp weapon from South Madappur area under Sitakunda upazila in the morning. The arrested were identified as Ruman Day, 22, Liton Chandra Dev, 23, Emon Hossain, 18, Rimpol Das, 23 and Sadan Rani Day, 40. Iftekhar Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station, confirmed the matter.
