A day-labourer was beaten to death by drug peddlers at Totalkhali area in Sadar upazila of the district early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Khorshed Alam, 35, son of Mohammad Kalu, of Majherpara area.
His younger brother was admitted to Hospital.
A man was arrested in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station Ranjit Kumar Barua conformed the matter.
Quoting witnesses, the OC said Khorshed Alam was locked in an altercation with few local drug peddlers on Thursday.
As a sequel of the quarrel, the drug traders beat up Khorshed and his brother on Friday.
