A court here on Sunday sentenced a drug peddler to seven years rigorous imprisonment for carrying drugs in Faridganj upazila of the district.
The court also fined the condemned convict, Md Rakibul Islam Tutul, 27, son of Md Nurul Islam Munshi of Bakai village in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur, Tk 2,000.
According to the prosecution, police in a drive detained Tutul along with 1,280 pieces of Yaba tablets at bus stand in Faridganj upazila town on August 14, 2015.
