Drug peddler gets 10- yr RI

 A Chittagong court in a verdict here today sentenced a drug trader to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for possessing and trading foreign made liquor, court sources said.
The 5th additional Metropolitan Session Judge Nur-E-Alam, delivered the judgment convicting Shah Alam, hailed from Gohira area under Anwara upazila in the district. The court also fined him Taka 20,000, in default to suffer one year more imprisonment.
The prosecution story is in brief that the accused person had been keeping and peddling drugs at his Anwara residence for long. A team of Narcotics department arrested Shah Alam from his residence with 25 thousand cans of foreign made beer on December 7, 2006.
An inspector of Narcotics department filed a case with Anwara thana against Shah Alam in this connection. The court examined a total of seven prosecution witnesses out of nine and held the accused convict, court sources said
