In a special operation in Sirajganj, police arrested a drug seller named Ohid Ali Navin (32) with 1 kg 350 grams of heroin on Sunday. He was arrested after searching a Dhaka-bound private car at the Kaddarmore intersection of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.
The detained Ohid Ali Naveen is a resident of Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi District. Superintendent of Police Arifur Rahman Mondal confirmed this information in a press conference at his office on Sunday afternoon. He said, based on secret information that a large shipment of heroin was going to Dhaka through a private car from Rajshahi, then a check post was set up at the Koddarmore area on the highway and a search operation was conducted. Around 4:30 am in the morning, police challenged a Dhaka-bound private car.
After interrogating the driver and searching the private car, a total of 1 kg 350 grams (13 Packets) of heroin and 1 liter of foreign liquor were seized. At that time the driver of the car Ohid Ali Navin was arrested.
The estimated value of seized heroin is Tk 1 cr 35 lakh.
The Superintendent of Police also said that after the interrogation and investigation of the detained Ohid Ali Navin revealed that he is the owner of the private car. He used to supply heroin from Rajshahi to different parts of Dhaka by a private car two to three times a month. He has been involved in drug trafficking for about seven years. There are five cases under the Narcotics Control Act in different police stations of DMP, Dhaka, Comilla, Tangail, and Rajshahi districts in his name.
