A drug dealer named Sanwar Hossain Sunny (22) was arrested with 105 pieces of yaba at Pagla Police Station in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon Upazila. He was arrested on Tuesday night (April 12) from the Hatpara junction of Usthi Union on a tip-off. The arrested Sunny is the son of Chan Miah of Bailar village in Trishal upazila.
According to local and police sources, Kawsar Ahmed, 28, son of Abu Nasser of Usthi Kalurgaon village in Sunny and upazila has been dealing drugs in the area for a long time. Kawsar works in Power Development Board in Trishal Upazila. He has received show-cause notices from higher authorities for drug use and absenteeism. This drug dealer used to bring yaba from different parts of the country and sell it in different places of Gafargaon upazila. Following this, the mad police raided the Hatpara junction area on the basis of secret information while selling and smuggling drugs at around 3 am on Tuesday. The drug dealer Sunny was arrested by the police but Kawsar Ahmed and another accomplice escaped.
Pagla Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said that Sunny was detained along with 105 pieces of yaba in the police operation. A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act at Pagla police station. Attempts are underway to arrest Kawsar and his accomplices. Preparations are underway to send Sunny to Mymensingh District Court.
