Drug awareness seminar held at CU

Chittagong University organised a seminar on “The awareness of the young generation in the prevention of abuse of narcotics” in collaboration with the Department of Narcotics Control to raise awareness among youth against drug addiction at AK Khan Law faculty of CU.
More than 500 students from different departments and institutions of CU attended at the seminar.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdury graced the seminar as chief guest while Director of Department of Narcotics Control Mohammad Jamal Uddin Ahmmed was present as guest of honor. Khandakar Golam Faruk, DIG, Chittagong Range, and Mohammed Mujibur Rahman, additional director of Department of Narcotics, addressed as special guest at the seminar chaired by ABM Abu Noman, Chairman and Dean of law faculty.
In the speech of the Guest of Honor, Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control Jamal Uddin Ahmed said that there are currently 36 lakh drug addicts including university students in Bangladesh. This number is growing. Every 10 drug addicts made another one drug addict.
He also said that if the use of narcotic poisoning is increasing, then we can not make our desired golden Bengla.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said in his speech that one of the reasons for drug addiction is the partner’s fault. The guardians will have to be careful with whom our boys and girls associate with. Drug workers can not do any creative, humanitarian work. Because they do not have power.
