Police have recovered the body of an old woman named Amena Begum (70) from a locked house in Bandutia area of Manikganj Municipality on Friday (February 25) morning, after receiving a call from 999, the body of the woman was recovered and sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Amena Begum, wife of Waheed Ali of the area. His son Firoz Mia (30) has been detained for questioning in the incident.
It is learned that Feroz came to the country a month and a half ago after living abroad for about six years. After coming home, he became addicted to drugs. Sometimes he used to treat his mother badly for drug money. Later, the family members admitted Firoz to a drug rehabilitation center. He was brought home two days ago for behaving abnormally there.
Locals shouted at Firoz and his mother when they saw smoke coming out of the house in the middle of the night.
