An alleged drug addict died in the custody of Sonaimuri Police in Noakhali district on Saturday.
Soon after the death of Tajul Islam Tushar, 23, police claimed that he committed suicide, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting Additional Police Superintendent of Noakhali AKM Jahirul Islam.
Earlier, Sonaimuri Police detained Tajul, an auto-rickshaw driver by profession, last night after his father Mominul Islam informed the law enforcers that Tajul was consuming Yaba pills, the Police official said.
He was detained along with nine pieces of Yaba around 2:30am and committed suicide later, he said.
A probe committee formed in this regard, he added.
The body was sent to Noakhali Model Police station for post mortem, according to him.
