The Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Chess Competition began on Sunday at the DRU hall-room. Director of Mohammedan Sporting Club and former president of Bangladesh Sports Press Association Sarwar Hossain inaugurated the chess meet as the chief guest. Finance Secretary of DRU Md Ashraful Islam, Sports Secretary of DRU Badrul Alam Chowdhury, former sports secretaries of DRU Shafiqul Islam Shamim, Rafiqul Islam, AKM Kamruzzaman Hiru were present at the time.
In the opening day’s games, Hasan Arif, Nuruzzaman Labu, Iqbal Farhad, Zehad Hossain Chowdhury, Tareq Salman, Ziadul Islam, MM sekander, Mehedi Azad Masum, Omar Faruque, Tapan Biswas won their respective matches.
