Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Annual Sports Competition began on Thursday at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium.
Rumel Khan of the Daily Janakantha emerged champion in the table tennis event beating his rival Syed Mohammed Mamun of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) by 2-0 set in the keenly contested final.
Earlier, on way to eh final, Syed Mamun beat Jafar Iqbal of Sangram by 2-0 set in the first semifinal while Rumel Khan defeated Mukimul Ahasan of Channel 24 also by 2-0 set.
Earlier, DRU president Jamal Uddin formally inaugurated the meet as chief guest.
DRU secretary Raju Ahmed and sports secretary Mojibur Rahman were also present in the inaugural ceremony.
