Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman said the dropout rate in the primary education now stands at 18.8 per cent.
“As per the annual primary school census of 2017, the present rate of drop out in the primary education is 18.8 per cent,” the minister said this on Sunday while responding to a query made by treasury bench lawmaker M Israfil Alam of Naogaon-6 at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here. The main reason behind the drop out in the primary education is poverty, unconsciousness, child labour, communication system and illiteracy. In addition to this, he said various programmes are underway at the field level for checking the drop out of the children at the primary school.
