Barishal district administration on Wednesday operating drives at Piaj Patty (onion market) area of the city against hoarding and price hike of onion fined three traders total Tk.12 thousand.
The fined three onion traders were Nannu Hossain of Bangla Arat Tk.5 thousand, Liton Mridha of Riad Enterprise Tk. 5 thousand and Ram Prasad of Shikdar Banijyaloy Tk.2 thousand.
Manisha Ahmed and Asma Jahan Sarkar, administrative magistrates of district administration operated the drives accompanied by officials and members of National Consumer Rights Preservation Directorate and law enforcing agencies.
Mobile Court sources said the traders were fined for selling onion in higher price than declared on their hoisted price list under section 38 of consumer rights preservation act 2009.
The Mobile Court sources added that during their drives they visited 12 business enterprises of wholesale onion trading of that bazaar and found sufficient stocks of onion in the market.
