Local people set a police vehicle afire and put barricade on Dhaka-Maowa road protesting the death of an auto-rickshaw driver in a road crash on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shah Alam,35, hailed from Uttar Shubhadda of Dakshin Keraniganj.
Witnesses said, when police of Hashara cap under Srinagar focused torchlight on auto-rickshaw driver Shah Alam and asked him to halt his vehicle on Dhaka-Maowa road a speeding truck hit the auto-rickshaw from
behind, leaving Shah Alam dead on the spot around 3 am Friday.
Angered by the accident, local people put up barricade on Dhaka-Maowa road, disrupting traffic movement for half-an-hour. As police tried to disperse them they set fire to a police vehicle.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
