Staff Reporter :A gang of miscreants shot dead the driver and hijacked the car in the city’s Banasree area early Monday. The deceased has been identified as Faruk Khan, 26, police said. Rampura Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman said the miscreants intercepted a car and tried to take control of the steering when Faruk reached near Banasree Jame-Mashjid at about 3:00am. As he tried to resist the miscreants, they shot him and fled the scene driving the car, leaving him dead on the spot. They also fired their guns several rounds into the air. He came from Mongla Port of Khulna with the car on the fateful night, the police official said. Police are investigating the matter, he said. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy, the OC said.
