Police on Tuesday detained 16 boys from Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area for allegedly harassing visitors there. They were later handed over to their parents upon receiving undertaking as they were not accused in any cases.
Hatirjheel police conducted the drive after a citizen complained on the Police Headquarters’ (PHQ) Facebook page that people are being harassed during their visits at Hatirjheel.
Additional police forces in uniform, plainclothes and patrol teams were deployed to ensure safety and security of the visitors, it added.
Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Hatirjheel Police Station, said they started patrolling the area and it will continue.
