Hathazari Upazila administration has launched a drive to protect the only natural fish breeding river across the country and the mother fish, biodiversity and dolphins of the Bangabandhu Fisheries Heritage Halda River.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ruhuil Amin led the operation in the Halda River from 12 noon to 2.30 pm on Tuesday. Md. Ruhul Amin said that equipment used for sand extraction was seized from 15 engine-driven boats used for sand extraction in Kumarkhali Ghat area of Halda river during the operation.
