Drive against light vehicles on highways begins in Sylhet

The government has taken decision to stop non-motorized vehicle movement on the highway to reduce road accident generally occurred due to the plying of the non-motorized vehicle movement on the highway especially CNG run autorikshaw, Van, bi-cycle, Nosimon or Korimon (a local vehicle run by generator engine).
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Sylhet District Commission jointly drive against CNG run auto-rikshaw to stop plying on the highway Begins in Sylhet.
The BRTA authority is scheduled to drive against the non-motorized vehicle on national highways from tomorrow an association with the local authority to implement the government decision. “We send letter to every concern government office to appoint five executive magistrate who will conduct the drive from tomorrow. According to BRTA circular issued on July 27, all non-motorized vehicles movement on the highway has been prohibited including battery run auto-rikshaw, Nosimon, Korimon, Vatvoti. The decision of plying non-motorized vehicular movement will be effective from today,” said the circular. Obaidul Quader, Bridges and Transport Minister at a ministerial meeting at the secretariat on July 22, said, “The new nuisance at the highway is CNG run auto-rikshaw which could occur accident in a second. Those vehicles are plying on the highway abundantly. Most of the accident occurred recently due to the extra CNG run auto-rikshaw’s on the road. The government has taken a decision to stop plying non-motorized vehicle on the highways.”
