The draw ceremony & signing ceremony of Walton Independence Cup Football was held at the conference room in Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House on Thursday.
Regarding the forthcoming football competition, a press conference was also held at the same venue on the same day.
The football tournament will start at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on January 16.
Bangladesh Football Federation will arrange the football tournament, while Walton Group is the title sponsor of the meet.
Senior Vice-President of BFF Abdus Salam Murshedy, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Executive Members of BFF Md Amirul Islam Babu and Fazlur Rahman Babu were present on the occasion. Besides, the representatives of the clubs of the Professional Football League took part in the draw ceremony.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the upcoming football tournament.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Rahmatganj MFS, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited have been taken place in Group-A, Brothers Union Limited, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Farashganj Sporting Club have been billed in Group-B, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Team BJMC have been placed in Group-C, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Arambagh Krira Sangha, Saif Sporting Club Limited have been taken place in Group-D.
Top two teams from each group will play in the quarter-finals.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Taka sixty lakh.
Abdus Salam Murshedy said, ” The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh, the runners-up will get Taka three lakh. Each participating teams will be given Taka two lakh as participation money.”
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn said, ” The highest scorer of the meet, the Man of the Match of each match, the Player of the Tournament, the Man of the Final will be given attractive prizes.”
After the draw ceremony and press conference, an agreement was signed between BFF and Walton Group. Senior Vice-President of BFF Abdus Salam Murshedy and Operative Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar dawn signed the agreement papers from their respective organizations.
