The draw ceremony, signing ceremony and the logo-unveiling programme of Walton Federation Cup Football was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House on Tuesday.
Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation and Chairman of the Professional Football League Committee Abdus Salam Murshedy, Operative Director and Head of Sports & Welfare Department of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Operation Manager of KFC Zahir Ahmed Dolon, Members of BFF Fazlur Rahman Babul, Elias Hossain, Iqbal Hossain and the representatives of the participating clubs were present at the draw ceremony. Abdus Salam Murshedy and FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn signed an agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The Federation Cup will kick-off on May 13 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) and all the matches of the tournament will be held at the BNS.
Bangladesh Football Federation will arrange the football competition, while Walton Group is the title sponsor of the meet.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the Federation Cup.
Dhaka Abahani Limited, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Saif Sporting Club Limited are in Group-A, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Farashganj Sporting Club are in Group-B, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Arambagh Krira Sangha, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are in Group-C, Brothers Union Limited, Rahmatganj MFS, Team BJMC are in Group-D.
Top two teams from each group will move into the quarter-finals. The winners of the quarter-finals will reach the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final.
The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh, while the runners-up will be given Taka three lakh and the participating teams will get Taka one lakh each.
Besides, the highest scorer and the player of the tournament will be awarded attractive prizes.
