Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq on Tuesday said that his office had forwarded a draft on the disciplinary rules for lower court judges for the consideration of Supreme Court.
After the apex court’s scrutiny, it will be forwarded to President Md Abdul Hamid and if he approves, a gazette notification will be issued in this regard, he said.
The Law Minister was talking to reporters after chairing a programme organised for conclusion of a training for the lower court judges at the Judicial Administration Planning Institute in the city.
The Supreme Court has so far given 28 times extension to the government for submitting the draft rules for lower court judges. The next date of hearing over the issue is on December 3. Replying to a query, Anisul Huq said the process for appointing judges to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will be initiated soon.
Asked about former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, the minister said the Anti-Corruption Commission will decide the next course of action over the allegations brought against him.
He hoped that the lawyers of the Anti-Corruption Commission will give appropriate advise to the commission for taking necessary steps on this issue.
Earlier on Thursday, Anisul Huq said that the government would publish the gazette notification on the rules determining the guidelines of lower court judges within December 3.
After holding an hour-long meeting with the judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) at the official residence of the Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah he also said, “There were some disagreements on the rules with the SC judges. We came out in a consensus finally over the issue at the meeting.”
