Dr Wazed Miah KC clinched the title of the Walton First Dhaka Mohanagari Football Tournament beating Shantinagar Club by 2-1 goals in the final at the Kamalapur Stadium here on Sunday.
Mehedi Hasan Topu put Wazed Miah KC ahead in the 30th minute while Russel Hossain restored the parity for Shantinagar Club in the 70th minute. Abdul Halim Tutul scored the match-winning goal for Wazed Miah KC in the 82nd minute.
Fahim Morshed of BKSP was adjudged the best player of the tournament, Mohammad Rakib of Shantinagar Club named as the best player of the final while Araf Sporting Club was adjudged the most disciplined team to receive the fair play trophy.
After the final, Operative Director of the meet’s sponsor Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar distributed the prizes. Former national footballer Golam Sarwar Tipu, Hassanuzzaman Bablu and Dhaka Metropolis Football League Committee chairman Harun-ur Rashid were also present on the occasion
Earlier in the first semifinal last Saturday, Dr Wazed Miah KC booked seat for the final eliminating Azampur Football Club, Uttara by 4-3 goals in tie-breaker as the match was locked in a goalless position in the stipulated period.
In the second semifinal on the same day, Shantinagar Club defeated BKSP by a solitary goal scored by Sadek Hossain in the 22nd minute at the same venue.
