Police have recovered the body of retired professor, analyst and columnist Dr Tareque Shamsur Rahman from his Uttara residence in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Professor Shafiqur Rahman of the Urban and Regional Department of Jahangirnagar University confirmed the information.
Tareque Shamsur Rahman started his teaching carrier in the Department of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University. He then established the Department of International Relations at the University.
He is the author of many books on Bangladesh, South Asia and global politics. Apart from writing books, he also wrote columns for national dailies.
After retirement from teaching at Jahangirnagar University two years ago, Dr Tareque Shamsur Rahman lived alone in his flat in Uttara. Her family members live in the United States.
