Though the misdeeds of JKG Healthcare came to light more than two weeks back, the law enforcement agencies are yet to take any action against its chairperson Dr. Sabrina Arif Chowdhury.
Earlier police arrested JKG Healthcare CEO Ariful Chowdhury and four others for their alleged involvement in a COVID-19 testing scam.
Even action has been taken against Regent Hospital.
The CEO of the JKG and Sabrina’s husband Arif Chowdhury and six others were sent to jail on deception charges. But Sabrina still remains ‘untouched’ causing a countrywide criticism.
It should be mentioned that law enforcement agencies recently raided Regent Hospital and JKG’s establishments for providing fake corona reports.
However, the administration has promised to arrest her if found any guilty in the investigation.
Law enforcement sources said that Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury has been working as a chairman of JKG despite being a registrar physician National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD)
“An investigation is underway that how and by whom she got such job. Sabrina will be arrested if her involvement is found in the Covid-19 testing scam,” a police official told The New Nation yesterday on contion of annonimitty.
Police said Sabrina has no way of avoiding responsibility for JKG’s deception. Because her husband Arif Chowdhury has admitted Sabrina’s involvement with the organization during interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health has not yet taken any action against Sabrina for holding the post of chairman at JKG since she has been working as a registrar doctor at the NICVD.
Prof Dr Mir Jamal Uddin, Director of the NICVD told the media on Friday that the hospital had asked the Director General of the Health Department to investigate Sabrina’s case.
Regarding Sabrina, Inspector (Investigation) of Tejgaon Police Sation, Abul Hasnat Khandaker told the media that the cases are under investigation. Even I myself was investigation officer of a case.
If Sabrina’s involvement is found, she will be shown as an accused in the case, Inspector added.
DC of Tejgaon Zone Harun-or- Rashid said, no one has yet directly complained against Dr. Sabrina. We are looking for through the investigations. If evidence is found, action will be taken against her.
Besides, JKG chairman Dr Sabrina on Saturday claimed that she had earlier informed the Director General of the DGHS about the fraudulence.
“I informed the DG and ADG about this,” she said.
She also claimed her innocence and said she was not the chairman of the JKG, reports Somoy Television.
She said there is no question to be JKG chairman. “Rather it’s a sister concern of the Oval Company. The Oval Group is a privately-owned company and Arifur Rahman is its owner.”
Sabrina used to take part directly in the activities of JKG which cheated people in the name of collecting corona samples and tests those for about three months. At that time, she also gave interviews to various media by introducing herself as the JKG chairman.
Sabrina also denied that she did not help Arif manage different contracts and jobs. “It’s a complete lie. Now let the allegations be proved,” she said.
Although she claims not to be the chairman of the company, police say her arrested husband Ariful provided detailed information about her involvement in the nefarious act.
They also said Sabrina will be interrogated soon.
