UNB, Dhaka :The High Court on Wednesday sent the bail petition of BNP leader Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain in a money laundering case to the Chief Justice for hearing. An HC bench comprising Justice Syed M Ziaul Karim and Justice Sheikh M Zakir Hossain passed the order after the state counsels opposed the hearing in the bench saying it has no authority to hear the petition in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission.Mosharraf’s lawyer Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon said they filed the petition for interim bail of the BNP leader as he is ill. The HC bench sent the petition to the Chief Justice following the opposition of the state, he said, adding that now the Chief Justice will assign the bench.Police arrested Mosharraf on March 12 last year in connection with the case. Since then, he has been in jail. On February 6, 2014, ACC director Nasim Anwar filed the case against Mosharraf for allegedly siphoning off money abroad. Nearly seven months after filing of the case, the ACC investigator submitted his investigation report to the Commission.
