Dr Mehtab talks with DIU students

A psychological session titled ‘Who is in Charge? You or Your Emotions?’ was held on Sunday at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU) conducted by Dr Mehtab Khanam, country’s renowned psychologist and professor, Department of Counseling Psychology of Dhaka University.
Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Students Affairs, DIU, Shamsi Ara Huda, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Bilkis Khanam, psychologist of DIU were also present at the session, among others.  
Addressing on the session Dr Mehtab said that we are so much anxious about our physical health but not anxious about mental health like that. Need to change this situation.
Damage of mental health causes hampered of physical health. Physical health and mental health are related closely with each other.
But it’s pleasurable that the situation has been changed. People are being conscious about mental health than previous. To enhance consciousness of mental health we should arrange this kind of program more, added Dr Mehtab.
Dr Mehtab Khanam said to the students that all the solutions of the problems of our practical life could not be found in the text books.
We have to learn from out of classrooms also. We have to learn how to manage emotions by using brain and experience. She said, there are six basic emotions which control our behavior eg. happiness, sadness, angriness, fear, disgusts and surprise. She explains the controlling method of those emotions. Dr Mehtab Khanam gave various answer of the question of students at the session and urged the students to give importance on self interaction and family bondage.
