Mind Aid Hospital at Adabar in the capital, where Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim Shipon was allegedly beaten to death by the staffer, there has never been a crisis of patients since it started in July 2019. National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital (NIMH) Registrar Dr Abdullah Al Mamun have been working in exchange commission with this illegal hospital, since then.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tejgaon Division Mrityunjay De Sajal told the New Nation, Md Niaz Morshed, the director of Mind Aid Hospital and the 11th accused in the murder case, and Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun was a good friend. Through Niaz, Mamun got involved with this illegal hospital.
Police arrested NIMH Registrar Dr Abdullah Al Mamun on Tuesday and then took him on a two-day remand in the case filed for the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim Shipon.
Police sources said that Dr. Mamun used to send solvent patients to Mind Aid Hospital. In return he got commission and then he would go to treat the patients and take a large sum of money. Apart from Mind Aid Hospital, Mamun used to attend to the patients at Mind Well Hospital in Adabar and Dhaka Clinic in Tangail.
The activities of Mind Aid Hospital at Adabar in the capital started in July 2019. Since then, the National Institute of Mental Health and the registrar of the hospital have been working for commission at this illegal hospital. Abdullah Al Mamun.
Mohammad Harun Aur Rashid, Deputy Commissioner of the Tejgaon division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said to the New Nation that Mamun was arrested from his home in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar government staff quarters on Tuesday morning.
Mamun has been arrested on the basis of information provided by those who have given confessional statements in court in the Anisul case.
On the day of the incident, anisul’s relatives took him to the National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital. They get a doctor there. He prescribed two injections without seeing the patient. An employee of the hospital himself pushed the injection to the police officer.
Later, Anisul’s relatives talked with the hospital’s registrar Abdullah Al Mamun. Mamun advised them that there was no good treatment for such patients in his hospital. If the patient is admitted to Mind Aid quickly, good treatment will be available.
He said, ‘After that, Mamun called Arif, the manager of Mind Aid and told him that he was sending a patient to admit quickly. Relying on Dr. mamun, the relatives took Anisul to Mind Aid. After killing Anisul, someone phoned Dr. Mamun from Mind Aid Hospital again. When Mamun was sure that Anisul was dead, he rushed to another hospital. As if there is no negligence in his responsibility.
Incidentally, Anisul Karim Shipon was taken to Mind Aid Hospital in city’s Adabor area around 11:45am on Monday for treatment. But, he died soon after admission to the hospital. He was an officer recruited in the 31st BCS Police.
Later, a video clip showing clubbing of senior ASP Shipon in the Management Room of Mind Aid Hospital had gone viral on social media.
The victim’s father Faizuddin Ahmed lodged a murder case with Adabor Police Station early Tuesday accusing some 15 people.
