Professor Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab (Swapnil) has been selected for the ‘Covid Hero’ award. Rotary International announced his name for the award last Monday for the unique service of patients in the Corona epidemic.
Professor Mamun Al Mahtab (Swapnil), a resident of Chhararapar area in Sylhet, now the Chairman of the Liver Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
According to Rotary International sources, Professor Mahtab launched 17 activities including food and hand sanitizers for the endangered during the epidemic. During the lockdown, he formed a team of 24 doctors, who provide telemedicine services to 300 patients every day. About 17 research papers on corona have been published in local and foreign journals. He was instrumental in developing vaccine policies for liver patients. He did talk shows and articles in various media to raise awareness among the people.
