Dr Lewis to talk at ULAB public lecture

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is going to organize a Public Lecture on “The Decline of Radical Development NGOs in Bangladesh” on Wednesday, 22 June 2016 at 9:40 am at its Dhanmondi Campus A auditorium where Dr David Lewis, Professor of Social Policy and Development, and Head, Department of Social Policy London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) will present as keynote speaker. Prof Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB will deliver welcome speech.
Dr Lewis has strong research and consultancy links with Bangladesh, and has worked on projects for SIDA, BRAC, DFID, etc. He spent a year or so in Bangladesh during the late 80s while conducting fieldwork for his PhD at the University of Bath. During this time, he lived in a village in Comilla for several months. He has a BA and MA from the University of Cambridge. David is a composer and musician, working mainly in the genre of folk rock. He performs regularly and has brought out four CDs.
Dr Lewis has written numerous peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters, many of which have dealt with development, NGO and social policy issues related to Bangladesh. His 2011 book “Bangladesh: Politics, Economy and Civil Society” by Cambridge University Press, has been widely acclaimed and is being used as a reference in ULAB’s “Bangladesh Studies” GED course.
