Jatiya Oikyafront leader and Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain said, if the people are united, the vested groups will melt away. People are the real owners of the country. Our beloved Bangladesh is not anyone’s paternal property.
“The election will be held in time, despite the fear of vote rigging” he said while addressing a press conference title Launching Gonoforum-Led ‘Public Policy’ initiative in the Jatiya Press Club on Monday afternoon.
Dr Kamal said, there is no dispute between the BNP and the Oikyafont over seat sharing. There is no crisis in BNP and its alliances. However,it is hard to resolve. He also placed an example, if you want to share a pie, some hassle will happen. Somebody will get, and somebody not. But whoso gets, he has to explain.
Pointing to the two BNP leaders phone call and the use of word ‘blackmail’, Dr Kamal urged all not to use such derogative word.
He said, I hope that nobody will use such ‘blackmail’ type word in future.
Dr Kamal said, we don’t want to feel disappointed. If anyone creates obstacle to hold a free and fair election, it will be considered as work of those who oppose our independence. Because the voting rights are the democratic rights of people. If people or groups of people are prevented from casting votes, not only they will be deprived of the rights to vote, the whole nation will have to pay.
When Dr Kamal’s attention was a to the remarks of AL general secretary that ‘guarding the polling centres is tantamount to the civil war’, the Gono Forum President expressed his surprise to say, how could it be that polling centres guarding may lead the civil war?
In the press briefing, Gono Forum leader Dr Reza Kibria explained what they would do if they win.
Gono Forum Executive President Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Secretary General Mostafa Mohsin Montu, among others, were present on the occasion.
