Dr Ismail new Pro VC of NSU

With approval from the President, Prof Dr Md. Ismail Hossain has been appointed the Pro Vice-Chancellor of North South University (NSU) recently.
Prof Ismail was appointed Professor in the Department of Economics at North South University in 2012. Prior to that, he served as Professor of Economics at Jahangirnagar University from 1994-2012. He also taught at Rajshahi University and Shahjalal University of Science & Technology.
Prof Ismail had a brilliant student career. He completed his BA (Hons), First Class 2nd and MA, First class First in Economics from Rajshahi University. He was a Canadian Commonwealth Scholar and obtained his PhD from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1985. Prof Ismail is the life member of Bangladesh Economic Association and Bangla Academy. He is the author and co-author of different book chapters and numerous scholarly articles in refereed academic journals.
Professor Ismail has supervised 14 PhD theses at Jahangirnagar University and worked as the chairman or member of PhD examination committees at Dhaka, Rajshahi and Chittagong University.
Prof Ismail has substantive experience in representing at high level committees and he held significant administrative positions prior joining NSU. He has extensive experience in consulting the government and international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB and UNDP. He was a member of the panel of economists for preparation of the 7th Five Year Plan of Bangladesh. Currently, he is a member of the panel of economists for preparation of the 8th Five Year Plan of Bangladesh.
