Brigadier-General Dr Abdullah Al Harun has been re-appointed as the director of the premier Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Dr Harun was first appointed as the director (hospital) of BSMMU on August 1, 2016. After three years of dedicated service, he was transferred to the Commandant of AMC Center in Ghatail Cantonment.
He was subsequently appointed as the director of Army Cancer Center of Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Dr Harun passed MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College in 1987. He later obtained MPH (PHA) from FMI under Dhaka University and AMMed degree from BSMMU.
Dr Harun started his career with the Bangladesh Army on October 5, 1988, and has been holding the post since February 9, 2012.
During his career, he served in various units at the staff and command level and commanded a field ambulance and two CMHs. He also served in the Middle East during Kuwait Mission from 1993 to 1996.
Dr Harun was born on November 30, 1963, in Jamtoil village of Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj.
