The title deciding 5th and last round super league matches of the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) will be held at three separate venues in Savar and Fatullah today (Monday).
Table topper Gazi Group Cricketers will face 3rd slot holder Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground 3, Savar.
Defending champion and 2nd slot holder in the points table Abahani Limited will play bottom-run Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at BKSP Ground 4.
Prime Bank Cricket Club will play Mohammedan Sporting Club in another match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
All matches will begin at 9 am.
After the 4th round of the super league, the equation of probable title winners become critical as three teams — Gazi, Abahani and Doleshwar — have their chances to clinch the title.
Doleshwar kept themselves in contention for the title collecting 22 points after a 97-run win over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 4th round game. Doleshwar moved to 22 points to draw level with Abahani Limited while Gazi Group Cricketers occupy the top spot with 24 points.
If Gazi beat Doleshwar on June 5, they will clinch title, even if Abahani win against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
But if Gazi lose to Doleshwar, and Abahani beat Dhanmondi Club, Gazi, Doleshwar and Abahani will be level on 24 points, making for a three-way tie.
In that case, Gazi’s three wins in matches against Abahani and Doleshwar will see them to the title.
If both Abahani and Gazi lose, Gazi and Doleshwar will be on 24 points each with both the teams having beaten each other once, the equation of result will come down to net run rate to determine the champions.
