Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Tuesday inaugurated a sculpture titled “Mrityunjayi Mitra” at Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district to pay homage to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The Indian envoy inaugurated the sculpture as chief guest in the morning while former minister and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MP, local MP Alhaj Didarul Alam, President of Chattogram North District Awami League and Chairman of Chattogram Jilla Parisad MA Salam and its Member AMM Dilsad were present as special guests on the occasion.
The high commissioner said that India had cooperated a lot during the war of independence of Bangladesh. As a result, many Indian soldiers were martyred along with the freedom fighters, he added.
He said that Bangladesh-India friendship will last forever.
